When Do Boxing Day Sales Start in the UK?
Boxing Day sales officially fall on 26 December 2026, but in practice, the sales window is much wider than one day. UK retail has shifted so much over the past few years that "Boxing Day" is really shorthand for a whole shopping season rather than a single date.
-
Pre-Christmas early access — many big brands, including fashion and beauty retailers, now open some Boxing Day-style discounts from mid-December, before Christmas Day has even happened.
-
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day sneak peeks — several online retailers quietly switch on their sales a day or two early, so keen shoppers get first pick of stock.
-
26 December — the main event — this is when the vast majority of UK stores, from tech to fashion to beauty, launch their biggest markdowns and release fresh discount codes.
-
"Boxing Week" into January — the deals don't stop after one day. Most retailers now run Boxing Day sales for a full week or more, often rolling straight into the January Sale with little interruption.
Guessing based on last year's pattern — bookmark this page, because we'll confirm exact 2026 launch dates for each retailer as they're announced closer to the time.
Is Boxing Day Better Than Black Friday?
It depends what you're buying. Based on how UK retailers behaved in 2025:
-
Big-ticket tech (laptops, TVs, phones) — Black Friday in late November usually has the edge, since retailers use it to shift new-season stock at a discount before Christmas demand pushes prices back up.
-
Clothing, beauty and homeware — Boxing Day tends to win here. Retailers need to clear Christmas stock and last season's lines fast, so discounts on fashion and beauty are often deeper on Boxing Day than at Black Friday.
-
Overall discount depth — Boxing Day is well known for some of the steepest markdowns of the entire year, particularly on clothing, as brands make room for spring ranges.
Our advice: if you're after electronics, don't wait — check our Black Friday discount codes page next November. If you're after fashion, beauty or home bargains, Boxing Day is usually the smarter wait.

Early Access Tips: How to Shop Before Everyone Else
The best Boxing Day discount codes UK shoppers grab tend to go to the people who prepare in advance, not the people scrolling on the day itself. A few habits make a real difference:
-
Sign up to retailer newsletters in November — many brands send subscriber-only early access codes a day or two before the public sale launches.
-
Follow brands on social media — flash codes and countdown announcements are often posted on Instagram or TikTok before they appear on the retailer's own site.
-
Create an account and build a wishlist — so you're not searching for products from scratch when the sale goes live; you can go straight to checkout.
-
Turn on app notifications — some retailers switch on app-only early access before the wider website sale begins.
-
Join loyalty schemes early — points-based and membership schemes sometimes unlock early access windows or stacked discounts for members only.
-
Have your size and payment details saved — on Boxing Day, popular sizes and colours in fashion and footwear can sell out within hours.
How to Find Valid Boxing Day Discount Codes
Sales pages get flooded with expired, fake, or copy-pasted codes every December. Here's how to make sure you're only using real working voucher codes:
-
Bookmark this page — we hand-test every Boxing Day code at checkout and remove expired codes the moment they stop working, so you're never left with a code that fails at the till.
-
Sign up to retailer newsletters early — brands often send subscriber-only codes before the wider sale even goes live.
-
Create accounts and wishlists in advance — so you can check out instantly the moment stock and codes go live, rather than losing your basket while you search for a code.
-
Check both sitewide and category-specific codes — some retailers stack a sitewide discount with an extra code for a specific category, like beauty or footwear.
-
Avoid codes from unverified forums or social media — stick to sources like this page where every code is tested at checkout before it's published, not just copied from another site.
Will There Be Free Delivery on Boxing Day?
Free delivery codes are common during Boxing Day sales, though rules vary by retailer. In previous years, many UK stores offered free standard delivery either sitewide or above a minimum spend threshold (often somewhere between £20–£50), especially for online-only shoppers avoiding the post-Christmas crowds. We'll list the exact free delivery discount codes UK shoppers can use for each retailer as soon as they're confirmed this December.
How Long Do Boxing Day Sales Last?
Boxing Day sales rarely end after just one day. Based on recent years, most UK retailers run their sales for a week or more — often called "Boxing Week" — with some extending discounts all the way into the January Sale. Stock on the most popular items (especially fashion and beauty gift sets) tends to sell out fastest in the first 48 hours, so it's worth shopping early even though the sale itself runs longer.
Your Boxing Day Shopping Checklist
A little bit of preparation in December makes a real difference to how much you save. Here's a simple checklist to work through before 26 December 2026:
-
Make a list of what you actually need — Boxing Day sales are designed to encourage impulse spending, and it's easy to buy things purely because they're discounted. Decide in advance what's genuinely on your list.
-
Check prices now, not just on the day — knowing today's price means you'll actually know if a "sale" price is a real saving or simply the normal price relabelled.
-
Set up accounts with your key retailers — saved payment details and delivery addresses shave crucial minutes off checkout when stock is limited.
-
Bookmark this page — we'll list valid voucher codes here as soon as each retailer's sale goes live, tested at checkout so you're not gambling on a code that fails.
-
Set a budget — post-Christmas is a common time for overspending; a clear budget keeps the "it's discounted so it's fine" mindset in check.
-
Check return policies before buying — sale items are sometimes final sale or have shorter return windows than full-price purchases, so it's worth reading the small print first. For more on UK consumer rights, see GOV.UK returns guidance
Conclusion
Boxing Day sales offer UK shoppers a great chance to save on some of the biggest shopping categories of the year. From fashion and beauty to electronics and home essentials, there are plenty of opportunities to find better prices, especially when you plan ahead and compare different offers.
The key to getting the best value is knowing what you want, checking prices before the sale begins, and using genuine discount codes where available. With the right preparation, Boxing Day can be a smart time to shop without spending more than you need to.

FAQs
When is Boxing Day 2026?
Boxing Day falls on Saturday, 26 December 2026.
Do all UK shops do Boxing Day sales?
No. Most major fashion, tech, beauty, and home retailers run some form of Boxing Day sale, but smaller independent retailers and some brands prefer their own sale calendar, such as a dedicated January Sale instead.
Are Boxing Day discounts bigger than the January Sale?
Not always. Boxing Day usually has the freshest stock and first markdowns, while the January Sale often offers deeper clearance discounts on what's left. Many shoppers find the best bargains later in January, but the best overall selection on Boxing Day itself.
Can I use a Boxing Day discount code with other offers?
This depends on the retailer's terms. Some codes can be stacked with sale prices, while others can't be combined with other promotions. Always check the code's terms at checkout — we'll note any stacking restrictions next to each verified promo code we publish.
How do I know a voucher code is genuine and not fake?
Stick to sources that test codes before publishing, not just scraping lists. On this page, every code published since 26 December is checked daily, hand-tested at checkout, and removed the moment it stops working — the only way to guarantee codes that actually work.
Do Boxing Day sales apply to gift cards and vouchers bought as presents?
Usually not. Boxing Day discount codes almost always exclude gift cards, e-vouchers, and sometimes sale items bought with a gift card balance. If you're planning to spend a Christmas gift card, check the retailer's terms before assuming a Boxing Day code will apply on top.
Can I return or exchange a Boxing Day sale purchase?
In most cases, yes—standard consumer rights still apply to sale items in the UK. However, some retailers shorten the returns window for clearance stock or mark heavily reduced items as final sale. Always check the product page’s returns policy before buying, not just the retailer's general policy.
Is it worth shopping on Boxing Day itself, or waiting a few days?
It depends what you're after. Stock availability is usually best on Boxing Day and the next day or two. If you want a specific size or item, shop early. If you're flexible and happy to wait for deeper discounts as retailers clear stock, later in Boxing Week or the January Sale can sometimes bring extra reductions.
Do I need a discount code, or are Boxing Day prices already reduced automatically?
Both happen simultaneously in most UK Boxing Day sales. Retailers usually mark prices down sitewide automatically, then add an extra discount code for savings, free delivery, or a specific category. It's worth checking both the reduced price and whether a valid voucher code can be applied on top.
From 26 December 2026, we'll be updating it live with verified discount codes, tested voucher codes, and the best Boxing Day offers from every major UK retailer.
